Exercise
Exercise is also important for our general good health and in lowering blood glucose levels. Remember to always check with your doctor before starting an exercise routine. Because of other health issues, exercising isn’t easy for us. In fact, it can be down-right difficult since we live with chronic pain. Stretching and exercise is good for the pain though, so we do what we can. Not as much as we should, but we are working on that.
I have heard some people say that they just can’t get exercise because they can’t afford a gym membership or equipment to use at their home. This is hogwash thinking! You don’t have to go to a gym or have special equipment. All you have to do is move, use your noggin and find items around the house that can help.
Stretching is very important, and I have found some ways to help with this. I fear I look dorky when I do it, but I dance around the house, jog in place, use my kitchen counter as an exercise “bar” for stretching my legs and also for doing “push-ups”. Simply bending forward at the waist can help stretch your legs and lower back. I have some hand weights that I keep at my desk for doing random arm exercises while sitting here. If you can feel it in your muscles, then it is helping! Use your imagination!
