About
Welcome to my website! My name is Lora, and I have Type 2 Diabetes. My husband, Steve, also has Type 2 Diabetes. This website is for me to share with others what we have learned about the treatment and care of this disease, as well as our experiences and day-to-day struggles to stay on our path to better health. Please note and remember, I am NOT a doctor or any medical professional. I am simply wishing to share our experiences with Diabetes and our journey to new and healthier versions of ourselves.
A note about my blog…I sometimes post about the benefits of particular foods, news or information that could be interesting and useful, but mostly it is about food and our experiences with different foods and our experiences with this disease in general. Food is such an important part of Diabetes, and I hope that my notes will help someone make better choices in their lifestyle.
Obesity is a major problem in America, and we are part of that group. I have been obese since childhood. Steve spent the first 25 years of his life being quite thin. It wasn’t until he began eating the wrong foods over the last 30 years or so that he began putting on excessive weight. It is a difficult fight to turn things around and become healthy, especially with refined sugar and high-fructose corn syrup everywhere. It is hard to maintain a lifestyle that is beneficial to ourselves and others, but we are determined to do just that.

Besides having Type 2 Diabetes, I also have Fibromyalgia that causes me to have chronic pain throughout my body. There are no days without pain anymore and this really limits what I can do as far as exercising, but every bit helps, so I keep plugging away at it as I can. I have struggled through vulvar cancer, including surgery, and deal daily with bipolar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder and panic disorder with agoraphobia, all without medical insurance. Everyone has struggles throughout life, and these are some of ours. I choose to take control and I hope that you do too.
Steve and I live in central Kansas. We are both in our second marriage, and between us we have 4 daughters, a granddaughter and 4 indoor female cats. Poor Steve, being the only male! We both work from home on the internet, creating websites, doing business consultation, selling things from time to time, and whatever else comes our way that seems interesting and do-able for us. Steve, an ordained minister, offers spiritual guidance and personal counseling to many.
I hope that you will find some comfort and help from my experiences and website. Please come back often and share the link with others:

This was a wonderful idea! I love it!
Thanks, Angie! I hope that I can keep it up and that I can really be of some help to someone out there.

Very informative website… Looking forward for more posts on your blog.
Thanks for sharing this nice website
It never ceases to surprise me that, with a bit of extra trawling online, you can uncover some of the most helpful sites. It’s frustrating that more sites like this, arent ranked at the top when I look with aol online. I’ve added you to my bookmarks, I also have a friend, that will really enjoy this blog, so ill send her a link to your article as well. I am sure she will really benefit from it.
Great. Thanks for typing this. It is always nice to see someone educate the public.
